There couldn’t have been a more fitting winner for this week’s Made in Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw than florist Amy Yates from The Velvet Stem.
Amy, one of our current Business Academy members, was delighted to discover she had won this week’s £2,000 prize with ticket number 24935.
Having joined the draw in September 2025 and holding just two tickets, Amy’s surprise win comes at an incredibly exciting time in her life. Not only is she the talented florist behind The Velvet Stem, but she’s also expecting her first baby and was already three days overdue when we gave her the good news.
The phrase “blooming lovely” couldn’t be more appropriate. Amy spends her days creating beautiful floral arrangements, and she is now eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby boy.
After a busy period running her growing business, Amy officially hung up her apron last week to begin maternity leave. Although she admits she’s already missing her flowers, it won’t be long before The Velvet Stem is back creating stunning bouquets and floral displays for customers across the area.
Amy joined the Made in Bury Business Academy this year and has embraced the opportunity to develop and grow her business alongside other local entrepreneurs. Her win is a fantastic reminder that anyone taking part in the Weekly £2,000 Draw could be next to receive that life-changing phone call.
Being incredibly organised, Amy already has everything she needs ready for her new arrival. Rather than spending the winnings on baby essentials, she plans to put the £2,000 towards a well-deserved family holiday later this year once she has settled into life as a new mum.
