Made In Bury

Phil’s Ship Comes In!

This week’s lucky winner was Philip Turner from Sambro!

Established in 1996, Sambro is a global supplier of everything from toys, arts and crafts, stationery, to novelty toys and bags. Sambro now employ over 80 people, working on everything from designing packaging to manning the 300,000 sq.ft. of warehouse space.

Today, with a little help from the Head of HR, Kelly, we were able to track down Philip and time our arrival just after his lunch – he was called back in to his office (which left him thinking he was in trouble!) and we were able to surprise him with the cheque!

All of Philip’s colleagues applauded when we handed over the £2,000 and he said he would be spending the money on his wedding and honeymoon coming up in the next couple of years! What perfect timing to be a draw winner!

Philip has been at Sambro for just over a year now and working as a Domestic Shipping Coordinator for the past four months. His job involves organising the shipping of the Sambro products to  the UK.

The Made in Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw is a not for profit initiative that raises money to pay for the training and mentoring of start-up businesses in Bury. If you would like to enter, tickets are just £2 a week. There are only 2,400 tickets available – so make sure you enter soon if you would like to be in with a chance! The draw is open to anyone that owns or works for a business in Bury, plus friends and family!
