Made In Bury

School’s out for summer for Kayleigh!

This week’s winner in the Made in Bury Weekly £2000 Draw  is Kayleigh Chew with lucky ticket number 22519.

Kayleigh works as a Teaching Assistant at Woodbank Primary School on Brandlesholme Road in Bury. She joined the Weekly £2000 Draw in August 2021 via the Facebook Group after messaging Leanne. Leanne called the school and spoke to Mrs Javed who was so excited for Kayleigh. She wasn’t in at the time, but with the help of her and Miss Lilley we were able to arrange to head over to the school to surprise Kayleigh with the giant cheque!! Thank you to everyone at Woodbank for keeping the secret and for helping in surprising Kayleigh.

Miss Lilley took Leanne in to the main hall where the Year 6 students were, along with Kayleigh, they were all involved in the surprise as well which was so lovely. Kayleigh screamed as she saw her name on the giant cheque and the whole of the hall applauded and screamed with joy for her!

Kayleigh has been at Woodbank Primary School for 6 years and it’s actually her last week, what a way to end her time at the school and just in time for the Summer holidays and ready for her new adventure. When Leanne first asked Kayleigh what she was going to spend the winnings on she said she had no idea as she was still in shock, but she is going to put the money towards enjoying the summer holidays.

It was a privilege to get a tour of the school and to see the phenomenal projects and facilities that they offer children in the local area. From their school farm that includes chickens to the Library Bus! Mrs Macadam explained that the school is a fun place to be, she has a fantastic, highly skilled team behind her who create special memories each and every day for the children. Woodbank Primary School offers extra curriculum days and believe that developing outdoor learning is an important aspect of this. They even have Woody the school dog! How incredible! Woodbank Primary School have their 50th anniversary coming up later this year and they have big plans to ensure it will be a celebration to remember!
