A nursery teacher from Heaton Park Primary School has become this week’s lucky winner of the Made in Bury Weekly £2000 Draw… despite only joining last month!
Laura Groutage, who works at the school which is part of the Collective Community Trust, won £2000 with ticket number 25163 after deciding to sign up following a visit from Phil Fellone to speak to staff about the draw and how it supports local start-up businesses across Bury.
Laura has worked at Heaton Park Primary School for the past 12 years as a Nursery School Teacher and said she loved the idea of helping new businesses while also being in with a chance of winning.
Heaton Park Primary School and Nursery is known for its welcoming community feel, inclusive values and focus on helping children “Enjoy, Aim High and Achieve.” The school offers a broad and supportive curriculum alongside rich learning experiences for children aged 3 to 11.
The school places a huge emphasis on kindness, respect and creating an environment where every child can thrive, with Ofsted previously praising pupils for arriving “excited and ready to learn”.
The timing of Laura’s win could not have been better.
When Debi Fellone first tried calling Laura with the good news, there was no answer… but there was a very good reason why.
Laura was spending the day at Alton Towers Resort during the school holidays when she spotted the missed call and rang back.
Still surrounded by rollercoasters and theme park excitement, Laura found out she had just become Bury’s newest £2000 winner.
Laura said the money will go towards a brand new kitchen that’s currently being fitted at home, with some of the winnings also helping fund a surprise summer getaway during the school holidays.
It’s another brilliant reminder that anyone can win the Weekly £2000 Draw at any time… even in their very first month.
For just £2 per week, players not only have the chance to win £2000 every Wednesday, but also help support business growth and opportunities across the borough through Made in Bury initiatives.
