There’s something about a surprise that lands in the middle of a normal working day that turns everything a little bit magical… and that’s exactly what happened when Debi and Phil paid a visit to MODS Optical in Prestwich.

This week’s Weekly £2000 Draw winner is Hayley Smith, owner of MODS Optical, with ticket number 22853.

Hayley was completely caught off guard as Debi and Phil walked into the store to share the news that she’d just won £2000. Between helping customers find the perfect frames and running her business, it’s safe to say she wasn’t expecting that kind of interruption… but it’s one we’re pretty sure she didn’t mind.

As well as being a brilliant local business owner, Hayley is also part of the Made in Bury community through the Business Academy, having been a member of the 2022/2023 cohort. It’s always special to see our Academy members thriving, and even more so when they’re stood there holding a winning cheque.

MODS Optical is known for its stylish, independent approach to eyewear, helping customers find frames that feel like them. If you’ve ever popped in, you’ll know it’s not just about glasses… it’s about confidence, personality, and a proper personalised experience.

When asked how she’ll spend the winnings, Hayley didn’t hesitate. Family is firmly at the heart of her plans.

A holiday with her children, Polly and Barney, is top of the list, creating those moments that stick long after the suitcases are unpacked. There’s also a big milestone on the horizon, with Polly’s GCSEs this year, and Hayley is keen to mark the occasion in style. And if that wasn’t enough, Polly’s prom after-party is being hosted at Hayley’s house… which sounds like it might be the most popular address in town. Some of the winnings will be going towards making that a night to remember.
